Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actor, singer, and dancer. The first Broadway parts include Wicked Legally Blonde & Hair. She was awarded the Tony Award for Best Featured actor in a Play for playing Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh Ashford, a Tony Award-winning actor and director, has spent the majority of her professional career working with famous directors and actors both in film and on television. Ashford will be next in the role of Kumail Nanjiani as Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive Welcome to Chippendales. It debuts on the 22nd November. Ashford has been involved in Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust with Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. The film will stream on Disney's DTC platforms as a Hulu Original. Ashford's Broadway return will take place in March 2023 when he stars opposite Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail as director and Jeffrey Seller as producer will form the team of creators for the show. Ashford's last part was that of Paula Jones on Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment. The show is based on the National scandal that featured Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky, and Linda Tripp. She was also the lead in two seasons of CBS Comedy B Positive. The show was developed by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the legendary Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not unfamiliar with Broadway has won two Tony Drama Desk Awards as along with Outer Critics Circle Awards in her role of Essie. Sunday in the Park starring George Wicked and Legally Blonde is among her other Broadway credits. She was born and grew up in Denver Ashford now splits her time between Los Angeles and New York.
